- Dr. Mary Nyangweso RELI 3500 Class
The role of faith-based organizations in social development is often overlooked or cast aside. Organizations such as Churches Outreach Network of Greenville North Carolina demonstrates this significant role. Often faith-based organizations emerge from within the church out of the need to engage the community. The origins of Churches Outreach Network draw upon existing social issues with the mission to harness and engage existing resources to help improve the lives of those in need. This project is one of the several we hope to explore to document the significant role of faith-based organizations in community development. In describing the origins, mission, and contributions of the churches Outreach Network to the Eastern North Carolina, the project aims at engaging students and interested faculty and community members in interrelational, intersectional, and collaborative efforts towards social development. The research project will draw theoretical frameworks and research skills in the study of religion document the mission, vision, and contribution of organizations such as Churches Outreach Network to social development. The objective is to document the origin of the initiative, the mission, vision, and contribution of organizations such as Churches Outreach Network and its programs to highlight the specific impacts of these programs.
