Study Abroad in India and Nepal 2019: Buddhist Holy Land
May 19 – June 12, 2019
Dr. Derek Maher, professor of Religious Studies, will lead this program for the 12th year. Students will earn 6 semester hours of RELI 2500, and graduate credit is also possible. Mandatory pre-departure meetings will take place in March and April, 2019. Program costs include tuition, application fee, hotels, intercity transportation within India, tours, entry fees, performances, health insurance, course readings, and some group meals. The course satisfies Foundations Curriculum: Humanities credit.
The 26-day program will include visits to Delhi, Agra, Varanasi, Bodhgaya, San-chi, and Nepal. Students will be instructed in basic yoga and meditation techniques, study with Indian religious teachers, and attend musical performances, museums, and locations that are sacred to Baha’is, Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and other religious communities. The itinerary also includes visits to the Taj Mahal, Mughal Forts, the Ganges River, and hikes in the natural landscapes. Students will also participate in a collaborative research project.

- Upon Acceptance to Program: $575 ($75 application fee + $500 deposit)
